Chandigarh, February 20, 2026: A workshop on “Dating the Mahābhārata: Astronomy, Scripture & Dharmic Insight” was organised by the ICSSR North-Western Regional Centre at Panjab University. The event witnessed participation from nearly 100 delegates, including academicians, researchers, students, and spiritual seekers.

The programme was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Renu Vig, who delivered the Presidential Address. She appreciated the depth and rigor of Dr. Manish Pandit’s research and commended his dedication to scholarship, documentary film making, and his efforts toward civilizational awareness and spiritual guidance for society.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Manish Pandit, a UK-based Nuclear Medicine Specialist, independent researcher, and spiritual practitioner, presented astronomical evidence from the Mahābhārata, including planetary alignments and eclipse references, which support dating the Kurukshetra war to 3067 BCE. He emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research in establishing the historical chronology of India’s Itihasa traditions.

The lecture was highly engaging and interactive, followed by meaningful discussions and questions from participants.

In the second part of his address, Dr. Pandit spoke on dharmic living and spiritual growth, encouraging students and young scholars to combine scientific inquiry with inner discipline, ethical clarity, and civilizational rootedness.

Participants showed keen interest in his book, The Mahabharata Chronology, copies of which were purchased at the venue. Dr. Pandit also interacted with attendees and signed copies for readers.

The workshop concluded on an inspiring note, leaving participants with deeper insight into India’s civilizational heritage and its relevance in contemporary life.
