Ludhiana: Department of Hotel Management, Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Ghumar Mandi , Ludhiana organized a Culinary Workshop on Continental Cuisine for their students. Chef Vanshika Jairath, Head Chef, Under the Mango Tree fine dine restaurant, Ludhiana conducted this workshop. Around 60 students from BHMCT, 2nd Semester of Hotel Management Department participated in this workshop. Chef Vanshika demonstrated and prepared Non Vegetarian delicacies like Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce, Chicken Jalapeno Cheese Poppers with Sriracha Mayo. Vegetarian dishes prepared by Vanshika were Avocado Toast, Cheese Corn quesadilla with Salsa, Mexican Paneer Salad with creamy Avocado dressing. During the workshop Chef Vanshika with her extensive global experience emphasised that cooking fostered a happy mood by promoting mindfulness, creativity, and a sense of accomplishment, besides the satisfaction of creating a delicious menu. She also briefed the students about emulsification process and the skill of maintaining sodium levels during food preparation. She also highlighted the importance of presentation and plating, as an attractive visual spread invites a guest to appreciate and relish the hospitality experience.

 

Ishtpreet Kaur, a hotel management student felt, this workshop helped her appreciate the nuances of continental cuisine as there was a lot of learning beyond just reading recipes and offering standard fare to the diners. Another student, Sahibdeep from 2nd semester, BHMCT was amazed to learn the art of cooking international dishes. Other students also found the workshop extremely informative and engaging.  Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal, GGNIMT, expressed his gratitude to Chef Vanshika Jairath for her invaluable contribution, as the workshop was a great platform for the students of GGNIMT to learn international cuisine.  Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT said that the students were enthusiastic about the workshop and appreciated the opportunity offered to them for learning from an experienced chef with Global exposure. Prof. Shantimani Sathwara, Head HMCT reaffirmed the commitment of GGNIMT to provide its students with  industry relevant professional education.
