Karnal, February 7, 2026: Girls' education is the foundation of the all-round development of society. The education imparted in Gurukuls is not limited to bookish knowledge alone, but also instills values, discipline, and life skills. These views were expressed by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD). He was addressing the students as the chief guest at the annual day celebration of Kanya Gurukul Mor Majra.
Advocate Sukhbir Singh Mann, President of the Gurukul's management committee, welcomed the chief guest, Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, with a bouquet of flowers. He gave information about the Gurukul's activities, the education of the students, and their efforts towards instilling values and self-reliance.
Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan said that girls' education shapes the future not only of a single family but of the entire society. When a daughter is educated, the coming generations automatically become cultured and aware. The Gurukul system is the soul of Indian culture, which, along with education, also focuses on character building. He said that in today's times, it is essential to make daughters self-reliant, self-confident, and capable of making decisions. The value-based environment provided in Gurukuls not only imparts education but also empowers the students to excel in every field of life. He said that daughters are not lagging behind in any field; they only need proper guidance and opportunities.
Chief Guest Dr. Chauhan said that the place of women in Indian culture has always been high. In ancient times, women were not limited to domestic life alone; they were also scholars and sages. Sages like Lopamudra, Gargi, Maitreyi, Apala, and Ghosha enriched the Vedas and philosophy. He said that today's daughters also need to be connected to that glorious tradition. For this, knowledge of language is extremely important. The English language is a necessity in today's world, but a good knowledge of Hindi is equally important, as Hindi is the language of our culture, traditions, and identity.
Appreciating the Gurukul management and teachers, HIRD Director Dr. Chauhan said that the dedication, with which they are working for the bright future of the students, even with limited resources, is exemplary. Society should support such educational institutions so that this stream of values, education, and culture continues to flow uninterrupted.
Present on the occasion were Vice President Bhupendra Mann, Secretary Om Prakash Mann, Joint Secretary Balwan Singh, Narendra Singh Bangar, Mehar Singh, Bhagwan Singh, Krishna Dhanda, Tejveer Singh, Narendra Mann, Dalip Singh Mann, Jasbir Singh Mann, Rajkumar Saini, Sandeep Khandwal, Gurpreet Kaur, Sunita Sehrawat, Balla Mandal President Jai Bhagwan, and students.
