Webinar on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease- A new pandemic

Chandigarh: Under the aegis of Indian Science Congress Association (Chandigarh Chapter) and Chandigarh Forum for Sciences and Technology Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of dental sciences and Hospital organised a webinar on Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease-  a new Pandemic. The webinar started by the welcoming note from Dr Hemant Batra Principal Dental College.

Prof. S.K. Sarin Senior Professor and Head, Department of Hepatology Institute of Liver and Biliary Science (ILBS) Delhi, gave a valuable information about the Fatty liver disease  that aprox. 1 billion people whether   lean or obese  are prone to Fatty liver disease which in fact is pandemic affecting about 30 percent of population. He emphasised that the onset and progression of disease depends upon one’s life style . It also depends on the content of food platen Moreover the survival and effectiveness of gut microbes play an important role . Fatty liver may lead tho other ailments including diabetes and even cancer.  He also spoke about how to early detect or diagnose this disease.

Dr N K Ganguli Former Director General (ICMR) New Delhi gave the expert comments in the end of the lecture and informed that Dr Sarin has created an independent organization Bile and Liver disease at Delhi wherein high level state of the art research  is carried out. 

Earlier, Prof R .C Sobti, former Vice Chancellor P.U. welcomed the guests and introduced the speakers to the audience. He also highlighted the achievements of Dr Sarin and Dr N.K. Ganguli.   

Dr Lalit of dental institute proposed the vote of thanks. There were about 110 attendees in the webinar. The prominent participants included Dr V.P. Kamboj Former Director CDRI, Lucknow and Dr Vijay Laxmi Saxena, General President Indian Science Congress Association.
