Webinar on Intellectual Property Rights organized by IPR Cell of Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar, November 11, 2021: The Intellectual Property Rights Cell of Lyallpur Khalsa College organized a webinar on Intellectual Property Rights Patents and Designs in association with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management, Nagpur (Govt. of India) to make the faculty members aware of the IP rights. The keynote speaker was Mrs. Pooja Maulikar from RGNIPM. She was given a formal welcome by Dean Academic Affairs, Mrs. Jasreen Kaur. Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra felicitated the organizers for their efforts to sensitize the people towards their rights and remarked that the need to protect the knowledge from unlawful use has become expedient in the current scenario. Coordinator of the webinar and In charge IPR Cell, Dr. Manpreet Singh Lehal introduced the concept of Intellectual Property and elaborated on its benefits to the individuals. The keynote speaker Mrs. Pooja Maulikar defined Intellectual property rights as ideas, inventions, and creative expressions based on which there is a public willingness to bestow the status of property. IPR provide certain exclusive rights to the inventors or creators of that property, in order to enable them to reap commercial benefits from their creative efforts or reputation. She detailed on IPR as a strong tool to protect investments, time, money, effort invested by the creator since it grants them an exclusive right for a certain period of time for use of their creation. Thus IPR, in this way aids the economic development of a country by promoting healthy competition and encouraging industrial development and economic growth. Convener of the webinar and HOD Computer Sciences, Dr. Manohar Singh extended a vote of thanks to Mrs. Pooja Maulikar for sharing the valuable information with the participants. The webinar was attended by all the HODs, faculty members and students of the college and they were provided with certificates.
