The School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCOPE) at VIT-AP University, in collaboration with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Bengaluru, organised a two-day national-level workshop titled “Quantum Intelligence: Convergence of Quantum Computing and AI” on October 26 and 27.
Amaravati, October 27, 2026: The School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCOPE) at VIT-AP University, in collaboration with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Bengaluru, organised a two-day national-level workshop titled “Quantum Intelligence: Convergence of Quantum Computing and AI” on October 26 and 27. Conducted under the aegis of Amaravati Quantum Valley and the National Quantum Mission, the workshop brought together 63 participants from VIT-AP University and other universities to explore emerging developments, applications, and research opportunities at the intersection of quantum computing and artificial intelligence.
Dr. Sudhakar Ilango S, Dean, SCOPE, VIT-AP University, welcomed the dignitaries, including the Chief Guest, C. V. Sridhar, Mission Director, Andhra Pradesh State Quantum Mission (APSQM); the keynote speaker, Henry Sukumar S, Scientist ‘F’ and Group Head, Quantum Technology Group, C-DAC, Bengaluru; and Dr. P. Arulmozhivarman, Vice-Chancellor (I/c), VIT-AP University.
In his keynote address, Henry Sukumar S, Scientist ‘F’ and Group Head, Quantum Technology Group, C-DAC, Bengaluru highlighted the transformative potential of integrating artificial intelligence with quantum technologies to enable advanced computation and faster decision-making. He explained the essential technological components underpinning quantum computing, including dilution refrigerators, field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), and quantum algorithms. He also emphasised the growing career opportunities in the quantum technology sector for students across diverse engineering disciplines.
Addressing the participants, C. V. Sridhar - Mission Director, Andhra Pradesh State Quantum Mission (APSQM) outlined the Government of Andhra Pradesh’s initiatives to advance quantum computing through Amaravati Quantum Valley, in alignment with the National Quantum Mission. He discussed the opportunities and challenges associated with developing a robust quantum technology ecosystem, including the establishment of quantum processors, dilution refrigeration systems, software development capabilities, and quantum product enterprises. He further highlighted the potential of quantum technologies to generate employment, foster innovation, and develop solutions for critical sectors such as defence, healthcare, transportation, and other domains that require complex computation and rapid decision-making.
In his presidential address, Dr. P. Arulmozhivarman underscored the growing significance of quantum technologies in fields such as communication, sensing, cryptography, drug discovery, and nuclear physics. He emphasised the need to strengthen education, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration in quantum technologies to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to contribute to emerging scientific advancements and industrial applications.
The workshop provided a platform for participants from internal and external universities to enhance their understanding of quantum computing fundamentals, quantum machine learning algorithms, and optimisation techniques. It also helped create awareness of the interdisciplinary nature of quantum technologies, the infrastructure and skills required for their development, and the research and career opportunities emerging from the Andhra Pradesh State Quantum Mission and Amaravati Quantum Valley initiatives.
The programme sought to encourage academic engagement and research interest in the convergence of quantum computing and artificial intelligence, preparing students to contribute to the evolving quantum technology ecosystem. Dr. Kuppusamy P, Workshop Coordinator, expressed his sincere gratitude to the dignitaries, and all 63 participants for making the workshop a grand success. He highlighted the workshop’s role in fostering interdisciplinary learning, research collaboration, and awareness of emerging opportunities in quantum computing and artificial intelligence, aligned with the vision of Amaravati Quantum Valley.
