Ludhiana, July 15, 2026: On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, a group of 50 NCC girl cadets visited Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, as part of an educational and skill development initiative aimed at broadening their knowledge of agriculture and allied sectors. The visit was organized to provide the cadets with practical exposure to the fields of animal husbandry and dairy farming, highlighting the importance of these sectors in ensuring food security, rural livelihoods, and sustainable development.
During the visit, the cadets toured various university facilities and interacted with experts who explained modern livestock management practices, scientific dairy production techniques, and ongoing research initiatives. The cadets gained valuable insights into the application of science and technology in veterinary and animal sciences, as well as the diverse career opportunities available in these sectors. Faculty members at GADVASU encouraged the cadets to develop practical skills and consider careers that contribute to the nation's agricultural and rural development. The interactive sessions enabled the cadets to better understand the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in animal husbandry and allied industries.
Colonel R. S. Chauhan, Commanding Officer, 3 Punjab Girls Battalion NCC, Ludhiana, stated that the educational visit was organized to provide NCC girl cadets with practical exposure and skill-based learning beyond the classroom. He emphasized that such initiatives help develop technical awareness, broaden career perspectives, and prepare the youth to become confident, self-reliant, and responsible citizens capable of contributing meaningfully to nation-building.
The visit was coordinated by Colonel A. S. Rao, Officer Commanding, 1 Punjab R&V Sqn NCC, Ludhiana, who facilitated the conduct of the programme and ensured meaningful interaction between the cadets and the faculty members, enabling the cadets to gain valuable practical exposure in veterinary and allied sciences.The visit was well received by the cadets, who expressed enthusiasm about the hands-on learning experience and appreciated the opportunity to witness modern farming and livestock management practices firsthand. The visit successfully fulfilled its objective of inspiring young minds, promoting skill development, and fostering awareness of emerging opportunities in the veterinary and dairy sectors in line with the spirit of World Youth Skills Day.
