Vishwakarma Day Celebrated at UIET Workshop — A Confluence of Tradition and Technology

The occasion paid homage to Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect and craftsman, embodying the perfect harmony between spiritual heritage and engineering innovation.

Chandigarh, October 23, 2025: The Department of Mechanical Engineering, University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University, Chandigarh, celebrated Vishwakarma Day with great enthusiasm, blending traditional reverence with a modern technological vision. The occasion paid homage to Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect and craftsman, embodying the perfect harmony between spiritual heritage and engineering innovation.
The ceremony began with the harmonious recitation of Shri Japji Sahib Path, which filled the workshop premises with an aura of serenity and collective devotion. This was followed by the Aarti of the Lord Vishwakarma Ji, invoking divine blessings for wisdom, creativity, and technological excellence. The event concluded with the distribution of Prasad, fostering a sense of unity, gratitude, and shared purpose among faculty, staff, and students.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sukhwinder Singh, Director, UIET, emphasized the importance of foundational understanding of workshop tools and practices for students of all engineering disciplines. He highlighted the state-of-the-art facilities and expertise at UIETworkshop, where students actively engage in hands-on learning and product development projects. He further encouraged the audience to organize such events on a larger scale to enhance awareness among engineering students about the significance and relevance of Vishwakarma Day celebrations.
In his Vote of Thanks, Prof. Shankar Sehgal, Mechanical Engineering Coordinator, expressed sincere thanks to the Director, faculty members, staff, and students for their enthusiastic participation and wholehearted support in making the event a grand success. He also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of Mr. Jatinder Singh Verka, Workshop Instructor, for efficiently coordinating all arrangements within a short span following the Diwali holidays.
