Chandigarh, August 26, 2026: The Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh, celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan with special women living with PLHIV (People Living with HIV) in an atmosphere of warmth, solidarity and social inclusion.
The programme brought together students, faculty members and special guests to celebrate the spirit of care, dignity, support and sisterhood. Students presented folk songs and speeches, adding a vibrant and meaningful dimension to the celebration.
The programme was graced by Dr. Manjushree Sharma from UIAMS, Panjab University, Chandigarh, as the Special Guest. She interacted with the participants and appreciated the efforts of the Centre and its students in promoting empathy, awareness and social inclusion.
Chairperson Prof. Monica Munjial Singh warmly welcomed the Special Guest and all the participants. Dr. Gaurav Gaur also addressed the gathering and highlighted the struggles, resilience and achievements of women living with PLHIV, encouraging students to understand their experiences with sensitivity and respect.
The celebration provided an opportunity for students to interact with the participants, learn from their life experiences and reaffirm the importance of creating an inclusive society where everyone is treated with dignity and equality.
The programme concluded with a message of love, solidarity and mutual respect, reflecting the true spirit of Raksha Bandhan.
