The university hosted the programme in collaboration with MY Bharat, providing a platform for young participants to express their views on issues of national importance and share their perspectives on the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The programme aimed to encourage youth participation in democratic processes, nurture leadership qualities and enable young people to contribute meaningfully to the nation's development journey.
A total of 28 participants from various educational institutions competed in the district-level round, delivering three-minute speeches on the theme One Nation, One Election. Participants were allowed to express their views in Hindi, English or Sanskrit. The students expressed their views with enthusiasm and conviction, highlighting their perspectives on the theme and reflecting on the potential impact of the One Nation, One Election initiative on the country's democratic and governance framework.
Following the competition, three participants were selected to represent Solan district at the state-level round. Isha secured the first position, while Shrishti Chauhan and Tushar Anand bagged the second and third positions, respectively.

Zila Parishad Solan Chairperson Sheila Kumari, Mayor Sushma Sharma, Director of Research Dr Devina Vaidya and Director of Extension Education Dr D.P. Sharma were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the participants, MP Suresh Kashyap said that with nearly 65 per cent of India's population below 35 years of age, the youth had a crucial role in realising the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He said that a developed nation must ensure equal opportunities, inclusive growth and prosperity for every section of society. Encouraging young people to embrace entrepreneurship and the growing startup culture, he urged them to take responsibility for nation-building and contribute towards social development and environmental protection. He also called upon them to maintain discipline, develop leadership qualities and aspire to become future policymakers and public representatives.
Prof. HS Baweja said that the youth were not merely beneficiaries of development but its key drivers, with a significant responsibility in taking India towards becoming a developed nation. Describing One Nation, One Election as a thought-provoking subject of contemporary national importance, he encouraged participants to develop an informed understanding of important policy issues and express their views with confidence. He urged young people to stay away from drugs, channel their energy into constructive pursuits and develop innovative ideas that could contribute to the country's economic and social progress. He also invited the participants to visit the university, interact with its scientists and explore opportunities to translate their innovative ideas into practical solutions.
Highlighting the selection process, Bhupender Gill, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat Solan, informed the participants that the three winners from the district round would compete at the state level against selected participants from other districts. Following the state-level competition, a team representing Himachal Pradesh would advance to the national-level event in New Delhi, where it would compete with participants from across the country.
The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants, along with an encouragement to young people to actively engage in democratic processes, nurture leadership qualities and contribute meaningfully towards the collective vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
