Chandigarh, November 9, 2023: One of the oldest Universities in India, the Panjab University, has a long tradition of pursuing excellence in teaching and research in science and technology, humanities, social sciences, performing arts and sports. The University has produced large number of graduates, post-graduates and doctorates and has distinguished alumni who are leading the way not just in science and technology, but in areas like sports, entrepreneurship, business, finance, politics, and social ventures in India and globally.

As we look forward to the coming decades, it is essential that we build on this success by securing and expanding capacity in a sustainable way, to level up and truly achieve parity with leading universities around the globe, said a release issued by the University.

The PU Alumni Endowment Fund endeavours to involve the alumni of the University to be part of this growth by contributing to the University’s long-term planning, improved quality, access and capacity. The well-established endowment funds of leading US colleges provide up to 30 percent of their operating expenditure. Around 55 per cent of the alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IITGN), have made financial contributions of nearly Rs 70 lakh to the institute during financial year 2022-2023. In 2023, 200 alumni members of graduating batches from 1970 to 2021 from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Bombay have donated Rs.50 crores for the ‘Project Ever Green’ and efforts are on to reach out to past students to scale it up to Rs.100 crores.
