VC Dr. H.K. Agarwal launches SOTO's Annual Calendar; Calls Upon the Public to Come Forward for Organ Donation

Dr. H.K. Agarwal, Vice-Chancellor of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, launched the annual calendar of the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTO). He described this calendar as a significant step toward promoting the importance of organ donation and tissue transplantation.

Rohtak, March 14, 2026: Dr. H.K. Agarwal, Vice-Chancellor of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, launched the annual calendar of the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTO). He described this calendar as a significant step toward promoting the importance of organ donation and tissue transplantation.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Agarwal said that approximately 500,000 people die in India every year due to the unavailability of organs. Of these, about 200,000 people succumb to liver ailments, 50,000 to heart conditions, and 150,000 to kidney diseases; however, the organs donated by a single individual can save the lives of eight people.

He appealed to the general public to come forward voluntarily to donate their organs and to inspire others to do the same. He emphasized that organ donation is a selfless and humanitarian act.

Registrar Dr. Roop Singh noted that the university is continuously working in the field of organ donation and transplantation, and this calendar will serve as a medium to raise awareness among the general public. Director Dr. S.K. Singhal announced that various programs would be organized to encourage the public to donate organs. These calendars will also be distributed to civil hospitals and medical colleges across the state to raise awareness about organ donation among patients visiting the Outpatient Departments (OPDs).

 

Medical Superintendent Dr. Kundan Mittal asserted that everyone should come forward to support such a vital cause as organ donation. SOTO is continuously conducting campaigns throughout the state to raise awareness among the public regarding organ donation.

SOTO's Nodal Officer explained that registering for organ donation is a very simple process. Interested individuals can register by visiting the website of the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) or by visiting their respective state's organ donation center.

Transplant Coordinator Deepti Kharab stated that any individual interested in organ donation can obtain information regarding the process and fill out an organ donation pledge form at Room No. 17 of the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization, located within the Medical Superintendent's office.

Dean Academic Affairs Dr. M.G. Vashishth, Dean Dr. Ashok Chauhan, Principal Dr. Sanjay Tiwari, HOD Obstetrics and Gynecology Dr. Pushpa Dahiya, Nodal Officer Dr. Sukhbir Singh and others were present on the occasion.
