VC Dr Arya’s Culture Push: Dada Lakhmi Chand’s Portraits to Adorn All SUPVA Offices

Rohtak, August 24, 2026: Every office of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLCS SUPVA) will now display the portrait of the legendary Haryana folk poet and artist Dada Lakhmi Chand.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Amit Arya handed over his portraits to the Deans, FC and heads of all departments, directing them to display them prominently in their offices.
Dr Arya said the initiative was not a mere formality but a tribute to Haryana’s folk culture and cultural roots. He said displaying Dada Lakhmi Chand’s portrait would keep the university community connected with the state’s rich cultural heritage and inspire young people to learn about his life, works and the traditional saang theatre tradition.
He said Dada Lakhmi Chand gave a distinctive identity to Haryana’s folk language, songs and saang tradition, with his works reflecting the region’s social life, concerns and human values. Placing his portrait in every university office, he added, would strengthen institutional respect for folk artists and nurture pride in Haryana’s language, traditions and cultural heritage.
Registrar Dr Gunjan Malik Manocha said the initiative would inspire the SUPVA family to remain rooted in its language and culture. She described it as a meaningful step towards honouring Haryana’s folk heritage and said efforts to connect the younger generation with the state’s cultural legacy would continue.
