Use of AI in Teaching, Research and Academic Writing Discussed at MDU Faculty Development Programme.

Rohtak, August 5, 2026: A series of expert sessions on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching, research and academic writing was organised on Wednesday as part of the Faculty Development Programme (FDP) being conducted by the MDU’s Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and Applications, MDU, and DAV Centenary College, Faridabad.
Delivering the keynote lecture on "Artificial Intelligence for Teaching and Learning," Dr. Shriram Pandey said that AI is transforming the education system at a rapid pace but can never replace the role of teachers. He emphasised that educators should adopt AI as a collaborative tool and select appropriate AI applications according to their teaching objectives and academic requirements.
Dr. Pandey also explained the RCTCI Model (Role, Context, Task, Criteria and Iterate) for developing effective AI prompts, describing prompt engineering as a form of "micro instructional design." He noted that better prompts lead to more meaningful and high-quality AI-generated outcomes.
The second technical session featured hands-on training on various AI tools. Participants learned to design effective prompts for different academic tasks and gained practical experience in using AI-enabled teaching methodologies.
In the third session on "AI for Literature Review and Academic Writing," Prof. M. N. Hoda, Director, Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi, stressed that responsible and ethical use of AI is essential to maintaining the quality and integrity of higher education research. He highlighted the effective use of AI tools in literature review, academic writing and research, while underlining the importance of preserving academic integrity throughout the research process.
During the interactive session, faculty members raised several queries related to AI-assisted research and academic writing, which were addressed in detail by the experts. The speakers reiterated that Artificial Intelligence has the potential to make education and research more effective, innovative and quality-oriented, provided it is used responsibly and in accordance with ethical and academic standards.
MMTTC Director Prof. Munish Garg, Deputy Director Dr. Madhuri Hooda and participating faculty members were present during the programme.
