Universities should be students centric, prosperous educated society should be the aim: Rahul Bhandari

Jalandhar / Kapurthala, April 26, 2022: Universities are for the students, from the students and to build a prosperous knowledge society, universities should work tirelessly. It is important for the staff of educational institutions to be very much serious and responsible for the work related to facilitation to the education sector. These are the words shared by Principal Secretary Technical Education (PSTE) and 17th Vice Chancellor (VC) of I.K Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) Rahul Bhandari, an IAS officer, during his first visit to the University main campus on Tuesday. He interacted with University officers, faculty and staff. He clarified that the problems and requirements of the students have to be resolved first.
 
Vice Chancellor Bhandari during his surprise inspection reached the classrooms, sat with the students & listened to their requirements and difficulties. He ordered immediate solutions to the concerned department heads. Vice Chancellor Sh. Bhandari directed the Deans  to provide urgently needed equipment in the university hostel, play ground, canteen infrastructure, bus stop outside the university and in the academic buildings.
 
worth mentioning that Rahul Bhandari, senior IAS officer of 1997 batch has recently taken over the charge as the Principal Secretary, Technical Education and Industrial Training Department of the State. As per the orders of Hon'ble Governor Punjab, the additional charges of the post of Vice-Chancellor IKGPTU with the Principal Secretary Technical Education till the appointment as per UGC.
 
During his first meeting with various department heads, officers and faculty members of the university, he said that faculty; academic staff and admin officers should work together. He also reviewed the preparations of the University for the new Admission Session 2022-23. PSTE cum Vice Chancellor advised that to get a good number of admissions with quality students the admission cell has to publicize the best infrastructure of the University, the faculty with maximum PhD qualifications and the availability of colleges near to student's homes established in each district of the state. He ordered the University authorities to take a new initiative within a week to provide admission opportunities to the students of Punjab near to their homes. He also advised faculty and staff to promote the university's initiatives towards quality technical education. He encouraged the university faculty and officials to do exemplary work in admissions.
