Union Minister Bittu’s conduct shameful; BJP leaders, intoxicated by power, have forgotten law and decorum: Dhaliwal

Chandigarh, May 27, 2026: Retired IAS officer and MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal strongly condemned the alleged use of abusive language by Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu against a woman IPS officer during the municipal elections, as well as the incident of allegedly grabbing a police officer by the neck. He said the Union Minister’s behaviour was shameful and that BJP leaders, intoxicated by power, have forgotten law and decorum.
Dhaliwal said the true face of BJP leaders, drunk on power, in their attitude toward democratic institutions and administrative officers, has now been exposed before the public. He said BJP leaders have begun considering themselves above the law, due to which they are losing their composure even in sensitive situations such as elections.
He said that a Union Minister using abusive language against a woman IPS officer performing her duty is extremely shameful and condemnable. This incident exposes the hollowness of the BJP’s tall claims regarding women’s respect and “Nari Shakti” (women empowerment). Dhaliwal said the BJP pretends to champion women’s respect from public platforms, but the behaviour of its leaders reveals their real mindset toward women.
The MLA said grabbing a police officer by the neck is not merely an attack on an individual, but an open challenge to law and order and the administrative system. If any ordinary citizen had done such an act, strict legal action would have been taken immediately, but BJP leaders enjoy the protection of power.
He demanded an impartial investigation into the entire matter and strict action against the guilty without any political pressure. He said that in a democracy, leaders are expected to respect institutions, not intimidate officers. This incident exposes the BJP’s real face.
