Chandigarh, March 13, 2024: Today, the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) at Panjab University celebrated Viksit Bharat @ 2047 with a special lecture on MEMS Fabrication Technology delivered by Dr. Deepak Kumar Sharma, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Panjab Engineering College Chandigarh.

Dr. Deepak, a former ISRO Scientist, shared insights into MEMS gyroscope and MEMS-based mass spectrometers, highlighting their significance in modern technology.

The event was organized under the auspices of Prof. Sanjeev Puri, Director of UIET, Panjab University, who emphasized the importance of fostering expertise in semiconductor technologies among students.

Dr. Gaurav Sapra, faculty member at UIET, was lauded for his efforts in organizing the event, which aimed to inspire and motivate students to pursue careers in the semiconductor industry. Following the enlightening lecture, participants had the opportunity to witness the online inauguration of three semiconductor facilities by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These facilities, including the Semiconductor Fabrication Facility at the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), Gujarat, and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facilities at Morigaon in Assam and Sanand in Gujarat, represent significant milestones in India's journey to become a hub for semiconductor manufacturing. The event concluded with a sense of enthusiasm and commitment among the attendees to contribute to the advancement of semiconductor technology in the country.
