UIAMS, Panjab University Felicitates Distinguished Alumnus Tejeshwar Singh, Border 2 Actor and First Turbaned Sikh Model to Feature in Lakmé Fashion Week
University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised an Alumni Honour Ceremony to felicitate its distinguished alumnus Tejeshwar Singh (MBA Banking and Insurance, 2011–13 batch) for his notable achievements and for being recognised as one of the first turbaned Sikh models to break barriers in the Indian fashion industry, including walking at Lakmé Fashion Week.
Chandigarh, February 2, 2026: University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised an Alumni Honour Ceremony to felicitate its distinguished alumnus Tejeshwar Singh (MBA Banking and Insurance, 2011–13 batch) for his notable achievements and for being recognised as one of the first turbaned Sikh models to break barriers in the Indian fashion industry, including walking at Lakmé Fashion Week.
The alumnus was formally honoured by PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig, Dean of Alumni Relations, Prof. Latika Sharma, and Director, UIAMS, Prof. Anupreet Kaur Mavi, at VC Committee Room, Panjab University followed by an interaction session with students at UIAMS, Panjab University. The interaction session was also graced by Gaurav Veer Singh Sohal, President, Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC).
Prof. Anupreet Kaur Mavi, Director, UIAMS, in her brief welcome address, highlighted the importance of alumni as ambassadors of the institution and expressed pride in Tejeshwar Singh’s achievements.
PU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Renu Vig, congratulated Tejeshwar Singh and said that alumni success stories reflect the quality of education and values imparted by the University. She encouraged students to pursue their passions with discipline and commitment while upholding the ethos of Panjab University.
Prof. Latika Sharma, Dean of Alumni Relations, appreciated Singh for remaining connected with his alma mater and emphasised that strong alumni–institution linkages play a vital role in mentoring and inspiring current students.
Addressing the gathering, Gaurav Veer Singh Sohal, President, PUCSC, said that Tejeshwar Singh’s journey serves as motivation for young learners to believe in unconventional career paths and to work relentlessly towards their goals.
Tejeshwar Singh, an MBA graduate of UIAMS, has established himself as an actor, model and performer. He has featured in the Hindi movie Border 2, where he is portraying an important role, along with participation in national-level fashion shows and competitions, and appearances in leading advertising campaigns. His interaction with students proved highly inspiring as he shared insights into his journey, challenges and perseverance.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Amandeep Singh Marwaha and Dr. Rachita Sambyal. The ceremony concluded with a special cheer from the students as Tejeshwar Singh returned to his alma mater, strengthening the bond between UIAMS and its alumni.
