UIAMS Hosts “DISHA” 2025 – A Power-Packed Orientation Programme for Future Management Leaders
UIAMS Orientation Highlights Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Community Engagement
Chandigarh, September 27, 2025: The University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), Panjab University, today conducted its flagship Orientation Programme “DISHA” 2025 at the Law Auditorium, welcoming the new MBA batch with a dynamic mix of inspiration, industry insights, and academic excellence.
Chandigarh Member of Parliament & PU Alumnus, Sh. Manish Tewari, set the tone with a thought-provoking keynote address as the Chief Guest. He urged the students to “become job providers instead of job seekers” by embracing entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership. Stressing the importance of staying rooted in cultural identity while aspiring for global success, he also touched upon key macroeconomic concerns, including India’s income distribution challenges, and encouraged students to contribute towards building an equitable and sustainable economy. He further supported UIAMS in submitting a proposal, in collaboration with the local councillor, for a grant to establish an open-air gym and outdoor canteen seating facility at the campus, aimed at promoting wellness and community engagement.
Earlier, the event opened with a welcome address by Prof. Anupreet Kaur Mavi, Director, UIAMS, who reiterated the institute’s vision of creating ethical, future-ready managers.
Adding a sharp perspective from public administration, Sh. A.S. Rai, DGP Punjab, highlighted discipline as the backbone of success in both public service and corporate life.
Ranjit Bajaj, Director, Minerva Academy, captivated the audience with four core mantras for life and career—discipline, giving back to society, overcoming fear, and mastering communication—underscoring that management is as much about self-leadership as strategy.
Prof. Y.P. Verma, Registrar, Panjab University, reinforced the synergy between academic knowledge and societal needs, while senior professors Prof. K.K. Uppal and Prof. S.K. Chadha encouraged students to remain curious and humble. Gurmangal Dass from YFC Rurkakalan inspired students to engage in community service and holistic development.
The programme featured two engaging panel discussions with accomplished UIAMS alumni representing leading organisations such as Roche, HDFC Bank, Delhivery, TravelPlus, and Moody’s. The panels explored “Balancing Skills and Values: The Role of Ethics, Wellness, and Communication in Professional Growth” and “Future-Ready MBA Graduates: What Recruiters Look For in Young Talent”, highlighting emotional intelligence, ethics, agility, and cross-functional skills as essential for career advancement.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Amandeep Singh Marwaha, Training-cum-Placement Officer, who acknowledged the insights shared by the distinguished guests and urged students to seize every learning opportunity.
