UHF Nauni Alumni Set Benchmark with Outstanding HPAS Performance, secure top two ranks

Two alumni of Dr Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni, Megha Singh Kanwar and Anchal Kumari, have brought laurels to the university by securing top positions in the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services (HPAS) Examination–2025, the results of which were declared recently.

Two alumni of Dr Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni, Megha Singh Kanwar and Anchal Kumari, have brought laurels to the university by securing top positions in the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services (HPAS) Examination–2025, the results of which were declared recently.

Megha Singh Kanwar, a resident of Village Khaniwer, Tehsil Rajgarh, District Sirmaur, secured the top rank in the HPAS Examination–2025. She completed her Master of Science (MSc) in Agroforestry from the Department of Silviculture and Agroforestry, College of Forestry, UHF Nauni, in 2022, where she emerged as the departmental topper with an Overall Grade Point Average  of 8.72/10. She also holds a BSc (Hons) Forestry degree from the university. In addition to her academic excellence, Megha is an NCC ‘C’ Certificate holder, reflecting her discipline, leadership qualities and commitment to service.

Throughout her academic journey, Megha consistently demonstrated outstanding academic merit, dedication and a strong inclination towards research. Her sound interdisciplinary training and rigorous academic exposure at the university significantly contributed to the development of her analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, which played a crucial role in her exceptional performance in the highly competitive HPAS examination.

Anchal Kumari, a resident of Village Ghontari, Nerwa, District Shimla, secured the second rank in the examination and has been allotted the Himachal Pradesh Police Services (HPPS). She joined the BSc (Hons) Forestry programme at UHF Nauni in August 2017 and successfully completed her degree in July 2021 with an OGPA of 7.54/10. Throughout her academic career, Anchal consistently displayed dedication, perseverance and a strong commitment to achieving excellence.

On Thursday, Megha was warmly welcomed at the university by the Vice Chancellor, faculty members and staff. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, honoured her for becoming a role model and an inspiration for students and aspirants across the state and the university. During the interaction, he advised her to uphold strong values, maintain the highest standards of integrity and wished her success in her future responsibilities as a civil servant, expressing confidence that she would serve the people of Himachal Pradesh with integrity, competence and dedication.

Megha expressed her gratitude to her parents and mentors for their constant support and guidance. Thanking the university teachers and staff, she credited UHF Nauni for providing a holistic learning environment and ample opportunities that played a pivotal role in shaping her success.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Chandel expressed immense pride in the achievements of both alumni and extended his heartfelt congratulations. He stated that the success of Megha and Anchal reflects not only their personal determination and hard work but also the quality of education, training and mentorship imparted by the university. The Dean, College of Forestry, Dr Chaman Lal Thakur, along with faculty members, staff and students also expressed great pride in the accomplishments of the alumni and extended their heartfelt congratulations.
