UGC selected Punjab School of Economics of Guru Nanak Dev University for DRS-III level

Amritsar, April 30, 2015:  The University Grants Commission (UGC) has selected Punjab School of Economics of Guru Nanak Dev University under Special Assistance Programme (SAP) and upgraded the School from DRS-II to DRS-III level for a period of next five years. The UGC has sanctioned Rs.90.5 lakhs along with a project fellow and the amount will be spent for upgrading the equipments, existing computer lab, field work, seminars, books and journals and inviting eminent Visiting Fellows in the field.

Prof. Paramjit Nanda, Head of the School has been appointed as Coordinator of the programme by UGC and she stated that the amount will be spent for improving the infrastructure facilities meant for research in the thrust areas like Rural Indebtedness and Farmers’ Suicides including Diversification of the Rural Economy in the coming five years. The School has been chosen for this programme in view of the achievements in teaching and research since the inception of the above said programme in the year 2004. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
