Bathinda, December 21, 2022: The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) unveiled its 11th Annual Book Exhibition on Wednesday at its lush green campus situated at Ghudda, Bathinda. The University Library, under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, is organizing this exhibition on December 21–22, 2022. More than 50,000 books on wide array of subjects published by reputed publishing houses have been displayed in this exhibition.
On this occasion, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor along with Prof. R.K. Wusirika, Dean Incharge Academics and Prof. B.P. Garg, the Controller of Examinations and Registrar (O), formally inaugurated the book exhibition. Prof. Tiwari, university officials and senior faculty members visited the book exhibition venue and looked over the latest books on various subjects.
Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor, mentioned that the objective of this book exhibition is to provide an open platform for faculty and students to visit, choose, review, recommend and procure the recent editions of published books displayed by the vendors. He further added that such events will help to develop reading habits in children, enhance their intellectual ability and bring CUPB community together.
Prof. R.K. Wusirika, Dean Incharge Academics, stated that in this book exhibition, reputed publication houses from across the country have displayed the latest editions of books written by Indian and foreign authors on different subjects. Faculty members and students of CUPB can review each book and recommend the same to strengthen the physical book collection of the university library as well as departmental libraries.
CoE and Registrar (O) Prof. B.P. Garg asserted that besides getting recommendations for the best books, another unique feature of this book exhibition is that students can buy books of their interest from vendors at CUPB-approved discounted prices after checking the detailed index. He informed that this book exhibition is open to all and that our university has forwarded an invitation to all the educational institutes in our region to attend this event.
Prof. Rajesh Kumar, In-charge Library, informed around 38 empanelled vendors have set up stalls to display latest editions of published books including textbooks and references from the leading publishers like Springer, Elsevier, CRC Press, Cambridge University Press, Chicago Press, Harvard University Press, Macmillan International etc. to attract visitors. CUPB Library would like to add the best books displayed in this exhibition to its stock, which CUPB faculty, research scholars and students will recommend to us.
Faculty members, research scholars and students derived pleasure and satisfaction from being a part of the exhibition and recommended books for the library.
