Late Rajiv Gandhi Was the Architect of Modern India: Pawan Dewan

Ludhiana, August 20, 2025: On the occasion of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary, a commemorative event was organized today at Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana, under the leadership of former District Congress Committee President Pawan Dewan.
On this occasion, Congress workers offered floral tributes before the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi and remembered his invaluable contribution in laying the foundation of modern India.
In his address, Pawan Dewan said that Rajiv Gandhi is regarded as the architect of modern India. He highlighted Rajiv Gandhi’s historic decisions, such as reducing the voting age to 18, strengthening the Panchayati Raj system, laying the foundation for the IT and telecom revolution, empowering women, and promoting youth empowerment — initiatives that took the nation to new heights of progress.
He expressed concern that the current government is continuously weakening the country’s basic structurez but assured that the Congress Party will not allow their intentions to succeed.
Punjab Congress Secretary Inderjit Kapoor and Punjab Congress Member Sushil Malhotra stated that Rajiv Gandhi continues to be a source of inspiration for millions of Indians, and following the path shown by him is the key to leading the nation toward greater development.
