Transparency, accuracy must guide ODF Plus verification: HIRD Director Dr. Chauhan

Nilokheri, September 19, 2026: Haryana has launched verification of 715 villages to assess their compliance with the prescribed parameters for achieving ODF Plus Model status by October 2, 2026. Teams of resource persons from the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD), Nilokheri, will conduct the exercise.
Addressing a one-day training programme for the verification teams, HIRD Director Dr Virender Singh Chauhan stressed that transparency, quality and factual accuracy must remain the guiding principles of the exercise.
He said clean and healthy rural surroundings, along with effective solid and liquid waste management and essential infrastructure, were vital for sustainable rural sanitation.
Five villages from each block will be verified. Teams will inspect 50 households in each selected village, besides schools, anganwadi centres, gram secretariats, waste-management facilities, wastewater management systems and other prescribed amenities.
Dr Chauhan urged the resource persons to conduct field verification with sincerity and record the ground reality accurately while maintaining a positive and respectful approach towards villagers.
Programme coordinator Sandeep Kumar said the training focused on verification procedures, prescribed parameters and field methodology to ensure uniformity and quality in the exercise. Resource persons Narayan Dutt, Pinky, Roop Lal, Reena Kumari and Mukesh Kumar were among those present.
