Town Official Language Implementation Committee Meeting and Award Distribution Ceremony Held
Official Language Excellence Awards Presented to 58 Officers/Employees
Chandigarh, February 3, 2026: The Chandigarh Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) (Office-1) organized its second bi-annual meeting for 2025-26 today at the Defence Geo-Informatics Research Institute, Him Parisar, Sector 37, Chandigarh. Chaired by Committee Chairman Ashok Kumar Saroha, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, North-West Region, Chandigarh, the committee reviewed Hindi usage in central government offices and discussed targets for 2025-26. The 26th issue of the Committee's annual magazine, "Shivalika Chandigarh," was also released on the occasion.
At the award ceremony, Saroha emphasized the importance of Hindi in fostering original thinking and creative expression, highlighting its growing popularity in IT, engineering, and medicine. He urged collective efforts to promote Hindi, stating it would strengthen national unity and cultural heritage. We must use Hindi more in our daily lives, he added.
Distinguished guest Dr. Madhav Kaushik, President, Central Sahitya Akademi, shared insights on Hindi literature and culture. Neena Malhotra, Member Secretary, TOLIC presented a review of Hindi usage in the central government offices located in Chandigarh.
Awards were presented to 58 officers/employees for 2024-25 competitions, best Hindi magazines published by central government offices, and Hindi writers. 40 Heads of Offices also received awards for excellence in Hindi usage.
