The event, which concluded was a Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Workshop-2023.

Jalandhar: The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at Lovely Professional University (LPU) recently organized a two-day workshop on "Technologies Update in Transfusion Medicine" in collaboration with Shrimann Superspeciality Hospital. The event, which concluded was a Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Workshop-2023.

The workshop aimed to update the knowledge and skills of medical laboratory scientists, medical professionals, and researchers in the field of transfusion medicine. It provided a platform for experts and practitioners to share their insights, experiences, and latest research findings on the topic.

The first day of the workshop featured a series of lectures by renowned speakers who presented their research on various aspects of transfusion medicine, including blood groups, transfusion reactions, and emerging technologies. The participants also had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions with the speakers.

While inaugurating the event, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) & LPU Chancellor, Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal congratulated the department at the helm of affairs and greeted the top doctors of the country at the campus. He also expressed his hope that the event would inspire further research and innovation in transfusion medicine and contribute to improving patient care in the field.

Present on the occasion were Chief Neurosurgeon Dr Rajesh Pasricha at Satyam Hospital; Dr R R Sharma, HoD Transfusion Medicine at PGIMER Chandigarh; Dr Kusum Mathur, President ISBTI and Senior Consultant at Shrimann Hospital, along with Dr Ajay Marwaha and other senior specialists and staff members. On this occasion, an important book titled ‘Transfusion Medicines for Medical Laboratory Technologists’ by Dr Kusum Thakur was also released by Dr Mittal and other eminent personalities present in the auditorium. LPU Registrar and Head at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr Monica Gulati thanked all for co-operation in the organization.

It is organized in association with ‘The Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohematology (ISBTI)’ and ‘The Punjab State Blood Transfusion Council (PSBTC)’. Interested individuals from across the country have also submitted a large number of abstracts for poster presentations for the same.

The participants of the workshop learned about the latest advances in blood component preparation, blood transfusion testing, and immunohematology techniques. The event received positive feedback from the participants, who appreciated the opportunity to learn from and network with experts in the field.
