Rohtak, October 22, 2026: Cultural performances, competitions and interactive sessions marked the second day of the seven-day National Integration Camp at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), with young volunteers celebrating India’s diversity and promoting national unity.
Organised by the National Service Scheme (NSS) under the theme ‘One Nation, Many Cultures, Unbreakable Bonds’, the camp brings together volunteers from different states for cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
The day began with a morning march and a walk across the university campus, followed by an interactive session with Krishna Kumar Gupta, one of the founding NSS volunteers. He highlighted the organisation’s founding objectives and stressed the role of youth in nation-building, social responsibility and selfless service.
Poetry recitation, solo singing and open-stage performances provided a platform for participants to showcase their talent. In a subsequent academic session, Prof Krishan Pal Mahalwar of the university’s law department spoke on ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’, emphasising that India’s cultural diversity is a source of strength and that national unity and social harmony must be upheld.
The cultural evening was a major highlight, with performances by volunteers from Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat. Folk dances, songs and traditional attire offered a glimpse into the country’s rich cultural heritage, bringing alive the spirit of unity in diversity.
NSS programme coordinator Prof Savita Rathi said the camp helps young people understand different cultures, languages and traditions while developing leadership, discipline, cooperation and social responsibility. She urged volunteers to actively participate in the activities and spread the message of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.
A review meeting of programme officers was also held to discuss preparations for upcoming activities, competitions and cultural events. The camp seeks to inspire young people towards service, cooperation and nation-building in keeping with the ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ vision.
