Ludhiana, May 22, 2026: The district administration will plant 6.50 lakh saplings across the district to commemorate the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji.
Presiding over a meeting with officials of various departments, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Dr Narinder Singh Dhaliwal stated that the administration is launching a special massive plantation campaign dedicated to the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji, under which 6.50 lakh saplings will be planted throughout the district. He informed that under this campaign, mini forests, medicinal plantations, fruit-bearing and flowering plants, as well as timber species, will be planted on available land belonging to different departments. He added that the Forest Department will supply the saplings, while the responsibility for plantation and maintenance will rest with the concerned departments.
Dhaliwal also directed all departments to send details of the required number of saplings and the locations identified for plantation soon so that the supply and plantation work can be completed on time.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner further stated that the rural development and panchayat department will also develop forests on available village common land, and their maintenance will be carried out by the respective village panchayats.
During the meeting, the Divisional Forest Officer Rajesh Gulati and others were also present on the occasion.
