Dr. Sharma said,” Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is often referred to as a “silent killer” because it may not present noticeable symptoms but can lead to serious complications such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney disorders if left unmanaged.”
Many people remain unaware that they are living with high blood pressure until serious complications develop, he elaborated.
Regular health check-ups, a balanced diet, reduced salt intake, physical activity and stress management helps to control hypertension, he asserted
Dr. Sharma also highlighted the growing prevalence of hypertension among younger individuals, driven by sedentary lifestyles, unhealthy eating habits, rising stress levels, and lack of physical activity.
He also encouraged people to monitor their blood pressure regularly and seek timely medical advice. Early diagnosis and simple lifestyle modifications can significantly help in preventing complications and improving overall quality of life.
