Sabad Naad – Sikh Hymns For The World

The World’s Largest Raag-Based Kirtan Project

Sabad Naad – Sikh Hymns For The World

Ludhiana, October 30, 2026: Sabad Naad is an 18-hour recorded musical project of 141 original Sabads across all 62 Raags and select Gurbani folk traditions, as enshrined in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Inspired by Babe Di Mehar: The Vision of Baba Sucha Singh Ji, which sought to honour the full musical architecture of Gurbani across its raags, the initiative is led by Ustad Sukhwant Singh – composer, producer & educator of Gurmat Sangeet, who composed the project's arrangements; KJ Singh – producer, sound engineer, label owner, who oversaw recording, mixing and release; and Padma Shri Bhai Harjinder Singh Srinagarvale – patron & renowned raagi, who has mentored the project. They bring together 200+ artists – Sikh Raagis, Indian Classical Singers and Master Instrumentalists from across India and the globe.
Almost a decade in the making, the project was launched on Friday at the Ramgarhia Girl’s College in Ludhiana. In attendance were some of the most-sought after Gurbani Kirtankaars such as Bhai Harjinder Singh, Dr. Gurinder Singh Batala along with some of India’s leading singers such as Hariharan, Rekha Bharadwaj, Ronkini Gupta, Devendar Pal Singh, Jaspinder Narula and more. The event was also blessed by the presence of Bedi Sahab, the 17th direct descendent of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Released by Mumbai-based label Asli Music, with all its 7 volumes available on leading streaming platforms like YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, JioSaavan, Gana.
Rooted in traditions carried through generations, Sabad Naad is an offering of the rich musical heritage of Sikh Kirtan, presented in one collection with lossless audio.
By rendering Sabads in their traditional raag forms using the traditional stringed instruments (tanti saaz) used by the Sikh Gurus such as Rabab, Saranda, Taus, Sarangi, Dilruba & Jori-Pakhawaj, along with other classical instruments – Sabad Naad emerges from the understanding that the Sabad enshrined in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is meant to be sung and experienced as sacred sound.
Following the Gurmat Sangeet tradition of the relationship between raag and time, as established by the Sikh Gurus – it is arranged into 7 albums as per the time of day, bringing together 18 hours of music in high-resolution lossless audio.
It is the first large-scale archival project to catalogue Sikh traditional music in audio format.
Sabad Naad echoes the essence of our eternal Guru, the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji - with love for all and in service to mankind.
