Three-Day field trainers training workshop for Census-2027 concludes
A three-day field trainers training workshop under census-2027 was conducted in district from April 6 and 9 under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Principal Census Officer, Himanshu Jain, and District Census Officer-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonam Singh.
Ludhiana, April 10, 2026: A three-day field trainers training workshop under census-2027 was conducted in district from April 6 and 9 under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Principal Census Officer, Himanshu Jain, and District Census Officer-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonam Singh.
The training was imparted by District Census Coordinator & Statistical Investigator Grade-II Alok Kumar along with Vishwa Som and the appointed Master Trainers Jasbir Singh Sandhu and Upma Kaul. A total of 68 field trainers were trained in two batches (35 and 33 participants respectively).
Under Census-2027, a total of 105 Field Trainers have been appointed in district out of which 37 field trainers had already been trained earlier at Municipal Corporation Ludhiana from April 3 to 5. These field trainers will further impart training to supervisors and enumerators at the tehsil/charge level. The training for both batches was successfully conducted at Government College for Girls, Bharat Nagar Chowk, Ludhiana.
During the sessions, the Master Trainers informed that this will be the first Digital Census, and introduced the concept of Self-Enumeration, under which citizens can fill in their own household details from April 30 to May 14, 2026. The first phase of Census (House Listing) will be conducted from May 15 to June 13, 2026, during which Enumerators will visit households and collect information through 33 questions.
The Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner appealed to all citizens to actively cooperate in this important exercise of the Government of India.
The workshop was also attended by Deputy Economic & Statistical Advisor Parveen Kumari and Investigator Manjeet Kaur and all Field Trainers.
