Nilokheri, April 14, 2026: The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre of April 13, 1919, remains an extremely tragic and indelible chapter in Indian history. The echoes of the bullets rained down upon unarmed and innocent people on that day still shake our hearts even today, reminding us of the immense price paid for our freedom. These remarks were made by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD), while interacting with participants during the HIRD's program, "Ram-Ram Haryana."

During the event, the painful scene was recalled—a moment when innocent people were fired upon, the entire Jallianwala Bagh reverberated with screams and cries, and the day of Baisakhi went down in history as "Bloody Baisakhi."

Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan said that the bloody saga of Jallianwala Bagh further ignited the flame of freedom across the entire nation and inspired every Indian to stand up against injustice. He affirmed that the sacrifice of the Jallianwala Bagh martyrs would forever remain a source of inspiration for the citizens of the country. Their selflessness teaches us that we must always remain vigilant and dedicated to safeguarding the unity, integrity, and freedom of the nation.

Other speakers also paid tribute to the martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh, noting that their sacrifice laid the foundation for the country's independence and that their martyrdom would continue to inspire the people of the nation for all time.

Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan further remarked that on this very day, the Tenth Master—Guru Gobind Singh Ji—established the Khalsa Panth at Sri Anandpur Sahib, thereby providing a new direction to society. This historic moment of the creation of the Khalsa stands as a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and the defense of righteousness. He stated that, while paying homage to the extraordinary personality of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the divine ideals of the Khalsa, we must remain eternally grateful for his unparalleled contributions to Indian culture and the Panth; furthermore, by following the path he laid out, we should strive to strengthen the spirit of unity, courage, and service within society.

Through this program, a message was conveyed to the youth encouraging them to draw lessons from history and thereby reinforce their sense of patriotism. Distinguished guests present on the occasion included Gurvinder Singh, Senior Advisor at the National Institute of Rural Development; Dr. Mandeep, Sarpanch of Gorakhpur (Fatehabad); Pritam Yadav from Apna Radio 91.2 FM, Charkhi Dadri; and Bharat Sopori from Radio Vitasta 90 FM, Ambala, among others.
