The perfect blend of Acting and Music mesmerizes the audiences on the second day of ‘Saarang’ and ‘Bharangam’ at DLC SUPVA
Rohtak, February 10, 2026: The second day of the Bharat Rang Mahotsav (Bhararangam) and the university's own festival, Saarang, organized by the National School of Drama (NSD), at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC Supwa), Rohtak, saw a spectacular performance by Tamil theatre and the music group of Mandi House. Actors Yashpal Sharma and Jatin Sarna participated in the morning session at Saarang. Vice Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya and Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha welcomed the guests.
During the special guest interaction session, Yashpal Sharma and Jatin Sarna discussed theatre and acting; and shared their experiences. Theatre director Laxmi Rawat also shared her experiences related to the stage. In the afternoon session, the play "Pen Nadai Koothu" (Women's Walk) was staged in Tamil and English. University students also entertained the audience with various performances.
Subramania Bharathi and team, associated with the Koothu folk theatre, performed the play ‘Pen Nadai Koothu - The Walk of Women,’ written in the style of the Tamil folk theatre tradition of Koothu, in English and Tamil. It depicted the life journey of women, their struggles, their independent thinking amidst societal norms, and their steps toward change. In the afternoon session, university students presented a captivating qawwali. In the evening session, the musical play "Zor Se Pyar Laga Hai" captivated the audience.
Actor Yashpal Satra, in his address on the nuances of acting, theater, and film, noted that there are immense opportunities for learning and practice in the present time. He advised students to use their mobile phones judiciously and limit the usage; saying that excessive use of mobile phones is causing the young people to lose focus. Focus is crucial for progress in acting, art, and film. He emphasized the importance of characterization before landing a role, advising that any script offered should be read four to five times without speaking. He elaborated on the four elements of acting in Bharata Muni's Natyashastra: vocal, physical, emotional and sattvic. Yashpal Sharma encouraged students to work with creativity and diligence.
Actor Jatin Sarna emphasized that reading, observing, and understanding are essential for any actor to perform well. He also emphasized the importance of regular practice. Vice Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya reiterated his commitment to making every effort to improve the university.
During the event, theater personalities from across the state were also honored. In the first two days of the festival, Naresh Prerna, Kesari Nandan, Ravi Mohan, Manish Joshi, Krishna Natak, Sangeeta Kimothi, Madan Dagar, Satish Mastan, Ramesh Murthy, Avinash Saini, Amanjeet, Dr. Anand Sharma, Raghuvendra Malik have been honored.
VC Dr. Amit Arya said that on Wednesday, a dialogue session will be held with theatre artist and director Kewal Dhaliwal from Punjab. In addition to a spectacular band performance by university students, there will be poetry recitation. In the afternoon, university alumni will take the stage with 'Safar of Words'. This session will showcase the power of storytelling through narration, voice, and performance.
