Chandigarh, September 24, 2022: Technology Enabling Centre, funded by DST, GOI in collaboration with CII, Panjab organized “Industry Academia meet” at Panjab University, Chandigarh today. The main objective of this industry academia meet was initiation of interface clubs including people from industry and academia to be called “interface champions”.

Prof. Manu Sharma coordinator of TEC welcomed all the attendees from industry and academia. Prof. C.R. Suri, Chairman TEC stressed on high time need of this collaboration. Further Prof. Y.P. Verma, Registrar Panjab University appreciated the efforts of TEC, PU and described this exercise to be the foundation for a big milestone targeted.

The program advanced with Dr. P.J. Singh iterating the need of collaboration of research approaches of academia and industry, where the approach of academia is focused on literature and IPR based surveys and the approach of industry is focused on market based surveys in order to commercialise the technologies.

Further, the people from industry collaboratively requested the academia to provide solutions for general and regional problems to bridge the gaps between academia and industry. Adding to this, they also requested academia to answer the industrial issues by providing plug and play solutions for very specific and generic needs.

The program focused on introducing the academia of ten different technological fields with the relevant industry people to form the interface clubs in ten different technological fields. These interface clubs will cater to the  industrial issues/ needs of that particular technological field. The academia also described their technologies ready to be transferred to the industry people.

Concluding the session, Prof. Manu Sharma and Dr. P.J. Singh guided the academia and industry people to broadcast the opportunity in their respective areas to add members to the interface clubs and assured that more clubs will be created for more fields in the future.

Lastly, Prof. Rupinder Tewari mentor TEC explained the upcoming S&T cluster for northern region to the participating industry people and academia.
