Chandigarh: The University of Buraimi (UoB) at Oman organized a Professional Development International Webinar on the topic “Motivation and Collaboration: A Key for Quality Education in the Current Scenario” with Dr. Suresh K. Chadha, Professor, University Business School, Panjab University. 
 
In his dialogue, Prof. Chaddha underlined that in the contemporary world teachers have an insuperable amount of duties and responsibilities which make shared leadership even more significant in the educational realm. Teachers are builders of society and also the world. Therefore, as teacher’s tasks grow, and their role in the classroom becomes crucial to the very timbre of societal progress, the need to understand their leadership style and motivation becomes imperative.
 
Further, Prof. Chadha highlighted the need to strengthening the spiritual being of an individual and stressed upon the importance of being connected to one’s belief and faith that gives a divine power to him to improve his internal sources of motivation. He highlighted the importance of values, motivation and collaboration in the higher education. He also clarified the definition of motivation and shared ways to motivate one-self and others. 
 
Underlining the importance of industry-academia partnership, Prof. Chadha said that academia and industry are two important pillars of our economy. A robust collaboration between the two will augur well for our developing economy, enabling innovation, growth in the education system and producing an employment-ready workforce. Firmly augmenting, that all the activities in the academic institutions should happen to provide practical solutions to the society and industry; Prof. Chadha said the relationship between alumni and educational institution is continuous and is not confined to placements or sponsorships. These alumni are the bridge between the academic institutions and the industry, he added.
 
Further, he stressed upon that university teacher’s job is to continuously challenge students so as to make them innovative and pragmatic in providing real-life solutions to the society. He mentioned that each individual has to identify his priorities and create a vision and mission for him at every front just the way it is done for corporate world. Also, the values are to be prioritized in terms of the focus area. He mentioned that the first value to focus on is faith, followed by family and financial stability actually comes at the end. The need for the hour is to give more priority to the relationship and the same is going to become a tombstone for any academic institution’s success.
