Teachers Key to Effective NEP-2020 Rollout: MDU Registrar

Rohtak, September 14, 2026: Teachers and higher education institutions have a crucial role in translating the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 into practice, MDU Registrar Prof Sandeep Bansal said on Monday.
Addressing the inaugural session of an eight-day NEP Orientation and Sensitisation Programme at MDU, Prof Bansal said NEP-2020 was not merely a document for reforming education but a comprehensive initiative to prepare students for emerging challenges.
The programme, being organised by MDU’s Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) in collaboration with Chhotu Ram Arya College, Sonepat, and Ganga Institute of Education, Kablana, will continue till September 21.
Prof Bansal stressed the need to make education more learner-centric, multidisciplinary, skill-oriented and research-driven. He said teachers must continuously upgrade their skills and adapt to emerging technologies and changing academic requirements.
MMTTC Director Prof Muneesh Garg highlighted the importance of continuous professional development of teachers, while Deputy Director Dr Madhuri Hooda focused on integrating NEP principles into teaching-learning practices.
On the opening day, JNU Professor Kedar Singh delivered two sessions on “Research and Development in Academic Institutions”, stressing stronger research culture, quality research and innovation.
The programme will cover themes including multidisciplinary education, Indian knowledge systems, multilingualism, academic leadership, skill development, student diversity, inclusive education and information and communication technology.
