Teacher Recruitment at MDU, Rohtak after Nearly a Decade: A Decisive Step Towards Quality Education in 2026

Rohtak, December 30, 2025: The New Year 2026 brings new hopes and opportunities for MDU, Rohtak. Following an advertisement notice issued in 2025, the varsity is rapidly moving forward to fill teaching positions after a gap of nearly a decade.

According to the university, the number of faculty in some departments has been extremely low, while in some departments there are almost no regular faculty members. Consequently, this recruitment drive is considered crucial in strengthening the academic environment at MDU and invigorating teaching, research, and innovation. According to the notified advertisement, a total of approximately 143 posts of Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor have been advertised across almost all subjects/departments.

This recruitment process, covering approximately 34 teaching departments of the MDU, is a comprehensive effort to meet long-pending needs and increase the university's teaching workforce. A statement from MDU PRO informs that the recruitment process is being conducted in full compliance with Haryana government regulations and the state reservation policy. This includes provisions for the Unreserved (UR), Economically Weaker Section (EWS), OSC, DSC, BCA, BCB, ESM, ESMSC, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories.

The university also clarified that this recruitment process also includes filling long-pending backlog positions. Specifically highlighted is that for the first time in MDU's history, backlog positions for reserved categories have been included in senior direct positions such as Professor and Associate Professor, marking a significant step towards addressing the long-standing underrepresentation gap.

The MDU administration further stated that a significant portion of the recruitment -estimated to be approximately 60 percent - is focused on filling backlog positions in reserved categories, ensuring the true benefit of reservations in accordance with government directives. For students, research scholars, and other stakeholders who have been awaiting regular faculty recruitment for nearly a decade, this process is being seen as a new hope for strengthening teaching capacity, mentoring, and student support systems.

Signing a clear commitment to quality education, the MDU has decided to begin interviews for senior positions in the first week of January 2026. These include 11 Professor and 21 Associate Professor positions. The screening process for 111 positions of Assistant Professor is also underway at a rapid pace. Committees formed for this purpose have been directed to complete the screening process within a week so that appointments can be finalized expeditiously.

The varsity aims to ensure substantial progress towards filling teaching positions by early 2026. MDU reiterated that the selection process will be conducted in a lawful, transparent, and impartial manner, ensuring that merit and statutory criteria are in place, while academic excellence and social justice remain the guiding principles of the University's development. The statement from MDU PRO claimed that this recruitment will further strengthen MDU's academic and research ecosystem. It is also expected to positively benefit the university in terms of NAAC grading and NIRF rankings.
