Targeting Trident Group and Rajinder Gupta: Allegations of Politically Motivated Action

Chandigarh, April 30, 2026: National BJP leader, Advocate Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal Bhukhri Kalan issued a strongly worded and uncompromising statement against the ruling Aam Aadmi Party Punjab government through his social media platforms, particularly X. He categorically stated that the so-called “raid” conducted by the Punjab Pollution Control Board at the premises of the Trident Group appears to be a highly questionable and politically motivated action that raises serious concerns about misuse of authority.
Grewal said that the manner, timing and intent of this action strongly suggest abuse of official machinery, allegedly carried out under the influence or direction of Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann. He asserted that such actions undermine the principles of fair governance and reflect a pattern driven more by political considerations than by lawful procedure.
Grewal further stated that the entire episode gives the impression of an attempt to target Rajinder Gupta, who is associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said it raises serious questions about whether individuals are being selectively subjected to action on the basis of political affiliation rather than any proven violation of law.
He added that at a time when Punjab faces pressing challenges, including law and order concerns, unemployment, corruption and administrative inefficiency, the apparent diversion of state machinery towards politically selective actions reflects misplaced priorities. “If state institutions are seen as instruments of selective enforcement, it weakens public trust and institutional integrity,” Grewal stated.
Grewal emphasized that such actions send a deeply negative signal to industry and investors and may adversely affect the investment climate of the state. He noted that any perception of arbitrary or selective enforcement can discourage economic activity and undermine confidence in regulatory frameworks.
He further observed that subjecting a reputed industrial group to action under questionable circumstances risks eroding the credibility of statutory bodies such as the Punjab Pollution Control Board and raises legitimate concerns regarding transparency, proportionality and adherence to due process.
Describing the development as “deeply concerning and requiring immediate clarification,” Grewal called upon the Punjab government to place all relevant facts in the public domain, clearly justify the legal basis of the action and ensure that all actions of regulatory bodies remain fair, transparent and free from any political influence.
He reiterated that the Bharatiya Janata Party will continue to raise its voice against any perceived misuse of power and will firmly stand for the protection of democratic principles, institutional independence, investor confidence and the larger interests of the people of Punjab.
