Ludhiana, November 21, 2015: The department of Anesthesia at Fortis Hospital Ludhiana is organising the 2nd North Zone Conference of Trauma and Airways from November 21st to 22nd in Fortis Hospital Ludhiana. The honorable FD Mr.Vivan Singh Gill, RMD Dr.Gurbir Singh, Head Admin Dr.Harpreet Brar, MS, Dr.Ankush Mehta and Dr.Katyal DMC inaugurated the ceremony.
 
In his inaugural address the Mr. Vivan Singh Gill stated that Road Rage is very common in our country and that too in Punjab. The Apathetic human attitude, indiscrete traffic violations, increased no of motor vehicles added to already over burdened Indian roads. The ease of getting a driving license in this country leads to enormous road traffic accidents everyday in which lots of people either loose their lives or are crippled for the rest of their lives.
 
Dr. Gurbir Singh RMD appreciated the efforts of the department of Anesthesia in bringing the conference to the city of Ludhiana. He also mentioned that Ludhiana city and Punjab has a very high number of road accidents. Fortis Hospital Ludhiana , has a comprehensive First Aid programme to cater to the needs of the patients.
Dr Harpreet Brar, Head Admin mentioned that today experts from India and Abroad spoke about how to treat Trauma and Airways patients as quick as possible in this session.
 
Dr Ankush Mehta, Medical Superintendent mentioned about Anesthesiologist plays a pivotal role in such a scenario, where the life of the accident victim is in danger. He is in fact the best person to resuscitate him immediately, thereby making a difference & enhancing the chance of his survival. He can immediately establish a definitive airway with the patient & make the quality of basic life support or advanced life support in the Emergency Department of a hospital.
 
Dr S. N. Mohanty, FHLDH explained the role of adjunct devices like supraglottic airway devices have made things easier, where immediate intubation is not possible because of bleeding in the nasopharyngeal airway or due to cervical spine fracture where preliminary stabilization is required.
Dr. Heenakshi gave the vote of thanks. The conference will continue till November 22.
