Ludhiana, July 9, 2025: Under the banner of the All India Insurance Employees’ Association (AIIEA), employees of LIC's Ludhiana Division observed a strike today. The strike received strong solidarity support from the LIC Pensioners’ Association and GIC Pensioners’ Association, making it a united and successful protest.
Sharing details, Maan Singh, Divisional Secretary of NZIEA, said the strike was organized to press for several key demands. These include immediate recruitment in Class III and IV categories in LIC, removal of GST on insurance premiums, withdrawal of the proposal for 100% FDI in the insurance sector, scrapping of the New Pension Scheme and restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, and the rollback of the new labour codes.
Addressing the gathering, NS Kala, Secretary of the LIC Pensioners’ Association, stated that the protest is against the anti-people and anti-employee policies of the present government. He emphasized that pension upgradation in LIC has been pending for a long time and demanded its immediate implementation. He also called for enhanced medical benefits for LIC pensioners.
