Rohtak, March 15, 2026: The short film ‘A Flight of the Lost Dreamy Bird,’ produced by the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak has been awarded with the Special Jury Award at the 13th Cut.in Film Festival held in Mumbai. Directed by SUPVA student Chaman Ramesh Krishna, this film—spanning approximately 13 minutes—vividly portrays the sensation of "being lost" in the context of childhood, place, and emotions.

The 13th Cut.in Students Film Festival (2026) was organized by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, at its School of Media and Cultural Studies campus in Chembur. Upon returning with the award, student Chaman Ramesh Krishna and his fellow students met with Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya, Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha, and other university officials. The students expressed their gratitude to the university administration, attributing their success to the world-class facilities and resources available to Film and Television students at the university.

Congratulating the students, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya remarked that it is a matter of immense pride for the entire SUPVA family that films produced here are winning awards both nationally and internationally. He noted that there is scarcely a film festival where SUPVA’s films are not screened or where they fail to secure an award. The consistent awards are encouraging our students and the faculty members.

Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha also extended her congratulations and best wishes to the students.

Chaman Ramesh Krishna, a student from the 2018 batch, explained that ‘A Flight of the Lost Dreamy Bird’ (Hare Patte Ke Rang Ki Patrangi Aur Kahin Kho Gaya Naam Ka Ladka) is a visual adaptation of a story by the Gyaanpeeth Puraskar-winning writer Vinod Kumar Shukla. Notably, the 13th Cut.in Students Film Festival (2026) commenced with the screening of this very film. The presentation of this experimental film bears a clear influence of magical realism. Adapted from literature, the film's narrative style itself constitutes an integral part of its experimental nature.

The entire contribution toward the making of this film came from the students of SUPVA. The crew included Sunny Sohal as Cinematographer; Pranav Mangla for Sound; Ashish Patel as Editor; Archit Dabas and Nancy Negi for Costumes; Vipin Kumar for Art Direction; Salik Wagas for Color Grading; and Sachin Hada as Production Designer. Meanwhile, Komal, Chandan, and Chaman Rajoura performed the acting.
