Rohtak, October 2, 2026: Discarded metal, old equipment, pipes and industrial scraps found a creative new life at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), where students turned waste into eye-catching sculptures under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign.
The one-day ‘Waste to Art’ activity was jointly organised by SUPVA and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), with around 40 students divided into 10 teams. Using waste materials supplied by BPCL, the students created sculptures around environmental and social themes, showcasing creativity, teamwork and innovation.
Dean Academics Dr Ajay Kaushik inaugurated the activity. The initiative sought to promote the concept of ‘waste to art’ and encourage students to rethink the potential of discarded materials.
The students created artistic representations of trees, plants, leaves, human figures, benches and decorative objects, drawing appreciation for their creativity and craftsmanship.
Shivani Verma, Ayush and Anchal’s team bagged the first position, while Garima, Prachi and Diksha’s team secured second place. Ankit Nehra, Parul and Muskan’s team finished third. The winning teams received trophies, merit certificates and gifts, while all participants were presented certificates and gifts by BPCL.
BPCL representatives were welcomed by SUPVA and presented mementoes. Visual Arts Faculty officials and faculty members were also present.
