Rohtak, March 12, 2026: Lajmi, a sixth-semester student in the Department of Fashion Design at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak, received highly acclaim for her design at the Inter-University Fashion Design Competition held at Amity University, Noida. Organized by the Amity School of Fashion Technology, the competition featured 22 participating universities.

SUPVA student Lajmi presented a new take on the ‘Heritage of Banarasi Saree.’ She highlighted the rich heritage of Banarasi craftsmanship and promoted sustainability by recycling traditional fabrics into modern fashion. Lajmi said that participating in this competition would not have been possible without the support and guidance of the SUPVA faculty. They continuously provided directions and valuable suggestions as mentors.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya said that the participation of a student from SUPVA at a national platform and the applause and attention garnered by her designs is truly a proud moment for everyone. He expressed hope that SUPVA students will continue to showcase their creative abilities on international platforms as well. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Arya said that the way Lajmi's design successfully blends cultural heritage with the aesthetics of modern fashion is a testament to the creativity of art and an environmentally conscious approach to fashion design.

Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha also expressed her happiness over this achievement and congratulated student Lajmi.

Dr. Shaili Khanna, FC of the Design Department, said that the competition provided young designers with an opportunity to showcase their creativity and innovation. Lajmi's work consistently garnered attention among visitors and participants due to its unique concept and thoughtful design approach. Assistant Professor Deepshikha said that in Lajmi's design based on the ‘Heritage of Banarasi Saree’, she creatively transformed the traditional attire into a Victorian-style gown.
