Rohtak, June 25, 2026: The short film ‘Turpai’, produced by the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC-SUPVA), has been nominated for the Ahmedabad International Film Festival (AIFF).

‘Turpai’, a psychological drama created by SUPVA students, will be screened at the AIFF, which runs from September 30 to October 2. The short film is directed by Vishal Kumar, a student of the 2018 acting batch; Vishal also plays a role in the film. Harshit Dhull served as the cinematographer, Ajay Mittal handled the editing, and Himang Pali was responsible for sound design. Based on a story by writer Shirish Negi, ‘Turpai’ is a psychological drama that uses the act of hemming (turpai) as a metaphor for the stitching together of life.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya stated that ‘Turpai’ was produced by students from the Film and Television Faculty. As part of their coursework, the students themselves handled all aspects of production, ranging from acting, music, and costume design to direction. He expressed happiness that films from the university are reaching international film festivals. This demonstrates the availability of world-class resources at the institution, enabling students to produce films and documentaries that rival the standards of Bollywood or Hollywood. The Vice-Chancellor expressed hope that the short film would capture the attention of the AIFF jury and win an award.
