Jalandhar/Kapurthala: Universities & Colleges are the temple of Knowledge. Our prime responsibility is not only to issue degrees but our duty is to curb the anti nation, anti social elements, even thoughts too. We have to guide students about peace & harmony. Universal Human Value courses are very much helpful for this important purpose. Every institution of every state & nation should consider syllabus of Universal Human Values for their students, young minds.

This is the message of Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University. VC Prof. Sharma was addressing the inaugural session of 7 days Residential Faculty Development Program (FDP) cum Student Induction Program (SIP) on Universal Human Values (UHV) at IKGPTU Main Campus. This activity is sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

VC Prof. Sharma shared about the vision and efforts being done by IKG PTU in the field of Value Education. He shared about the facts that IKGPTU is taking care of around 08 Residential FDPs of 7 Days for the state of Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, and Haryana during this winter break. He also shared that IKG PTU will start one year PG Diploma Course on Universal Human Values. The purpose of this course is to prepare resource person. He further deliberated that a request letter has already been sent to AICTE, New Delhi to start this course.

Total 85 faculties from affiliated colleges of IKG PTU and various Universities of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, J&K and Orissa are attending this second FDP of winter break. In the first FDP 54 teachers were participated. Since July 2018, AICTE has introduced mandatory three-weeks Student Induction Program (SIP) based on UHV for the first-year students joining the college and the classes will begin after this induction program. As the Student Induction Program is made mandatory for every student, it is of utmost importance that the faculty members/teachers are equipped and refreshed to conduct the induction program for the students. To cater this, all Faculties must undergo such 7 days Residential FDP based on UHV. Only such faculties will be eligible to conduct SIP at their colleges. 
 

Dr. Sukhbir Singh Ahluwalia, Officiating Registrar were also shared his views over UHV & residencial FDPs cum SIPs. On this occasion Dr. Satvir Singh, HoD ECE, IKG PTU, Er. Mohit Jain and Er. Vinay Kehar also shared their experiences regarding current events. Sh. Jitender Narula was the Key note speaker of this workshop. Er. Mohit Jain, Local Program Coordinator of this FDP gave vote of thanks to all the guests, participants and media officials.
