Ludhiana, January 28, 2014: Through its Surf Safe campaign, Opera Software has been working to increase understanding about the importance of healthy internet-browsing habits among young adults in India since 2011. Opera, along with experts from the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), conducts seminars in schools and colleges to educate young people about techniques that will help them have a safe and productive web-surfing experience.

This year, Opera is traveling to schools in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Kolkata and Patna with on-ground seminars on safe surfing habits. Rakshit Tandon, Consultant, IAMAI will conduct these sessions for students studying in sixth grade onwards. The seminar for students in Ludhiana is being held in Guru Nanak Public School, Guru Nanak International School and PAU School on 27th& 28thJanuary.

"The internet is a knowledge rich platform which offers information on every subject. Children use it for research, gaining knowledge, connecting with friends, sharing information and entertainment", says Sunil Kamath, Vice President for South Asia, Opera Software. He added, "At Opera, we believe it is important to train children to reap the maximum benefits from the internet while not compromising on their safety and security. We hope students take the maximum benefits out of these Surf Safe seminars.”

“Safety is of utmost priority in today’s world, where kids at a very young age start using surfing the web. It almost becomes obligatory for parents to watch their kid’s online behavior. However, restricting them to the medium is not a solution as that will only stop them from gaining knowledge. Rather, the focus should be on making them understand the real world of web and educating them on internet safety", said Rakshit Tandon, Consultant, IAMAI.

Since 2011, the Surf Safe seminars have reached more than 38,500 students in cities such as Ahmedabad, Pune, Nashik, Chennai, Bangalore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Allahabad, Agra and Lucknow.//ludhiana news online, ludhiana news in English, ludhiana news, ludhiana current news, ludhiana news live, Ludhiana breaking news, Ludhiana headlines, Ludhiana latest news, punjab news, india news, punjab news live, punjab news online, punjab news, punjab news headlines, punjab breaking news, india news, punjab news,
