Ludhiana, March 12, 2019: The International Electrical & Electronics Engineers Society (IEEE) is a forum which provides platform to researchers, professionals, industries and young technocrats to share their knowledge and keep themselves abreast with the best in the world. Students Chapter of IEEE was inaugurated today at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana. After IITs, GNDEC is the only college to have such an international forum. Dr.Satish Saini, Chairman, IEEE Smart Grids Society, Toronto inaugurated the chapter.
Welcoming the guests, Dr. Arvind Dhingra, Counselor, IEEE GNDEC said that this chapter had been established after a lot of efforts and he thanked Dr.Satish Saini for giving the necessary impetus to the efforts of GNDEC for establishing the chapter. Dr.Kiranjyoti, Coordinator in her address said that IEEE chapter would go a long way in promoting the culture of research at GNDEC. Dr.Sehijpal Singh, Principal of the college while thanking Dr.Satish Saini said that college was providing all kinds of platforms to the budding technocrats to enhance their exposure to the latest technologies and establishment of the IEEE students chapter was one such initiative.
The students team was introduced on this ocassion. The student team for this year would comprise of Simranjeet Singh, Final Year IT, Chairman; Rajveer singh, Final Year IT, Vice Chairman; Dhanuka Priya, Secretary’ Harnoor Singh, Treasurer; Ramandeep Kaur, Membership Incharge.
The students presented the proposed programs to be held during the year. They also brought out the benefits of joining IEEE.
Dr.Satish Saini, an 83 Electrical alumnus of the institute shared his own experiences. He said that after graduating he had joined erstwhile Punjab State Electricity Board and left to organization to go abroad in 2001. He is now working with Ontario Hydro Ltd. He said that in today's world one should constantly update his knowledge and IEEE provided a platform for this. He assured all help for furthering the goal of the IEEE chapter.
