Step away from screens, reconnect with self: Experts; Digital detox urged for healthier, balanced life at SUPVA

Rohtak, October 8, 2026: The Physical and Mental Wellness Club of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) organised a lecture on digital detox under the ‘Nayi Chetna Se Sashakt Bharat’ initiative on Thursday.

Dean, Cultural and Student Activities, Vinay Kumar, welcomed the guests. Registrar Dr Gunjan Malik Manocha was also present on the occasion.

In her address, Brahma Kumari Monika urged students and staff to periodically disconnect from mobile phones, social media and other digital devices to reconnect with themselves. She stressed that technology should be used in a balanced and positive manner rather than becoming a source of dependence.

She said excessive and uncontrolled use of digital devices could affect mental health, relationships and lifestyle, besides contributing to stress, irritability, reduced concentration and sleep-related problems.

Dr Ajit Rana said Rajyoga meditation, self-reflection and positive thinking could help reduce digital dependence and bring mental stability. He suggested simple habits such as avoiding mobile phones immediately after waking up, keeping devices away during meals and limiting screen time before sleep.

“Digital detox helps us understand that we should use technology, not allow technology to use us,” he said.
