Srijan – A Fine Arts Workshop for Creative Expression

Jalandhar, May 27, 2025: The Equal Opportunity Cell of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, in collaboration with the Department of Fine Arts, successfully organized “Srijan – A Fine Arts Workshop for Creative Expression” for the students of Red Cross School for Deaf and Dumb, Maqsudan, Jalandhar.

The event was conducted at the premises of the Red Cross School, offering a vibrant and inclusive platform to specially-abled students for nurturing their artistic talents.

The workshop focused on teaching the basics of painting, introducing the participants to various techniques and tools of artistic expression. The students displayed immense enthusiasm and creativity throughout the session. Faculty and student volunteers from the Equal Opportunity Cell provided hands-on guidance and support, ensuring an interactive and encouraging learning environment.

This initiative aimed to tap into the creative potential of the participants while enhancing their self-esteem and confidence. The workshop also supported the larger vision of social integration by equipping the students to engage more comfortably with their mainstream peers through artistic collaboration and shared experiences.

A total of 16 students participated with great enthusiasm, painting vivid reflections of their thoughts and imaginations. Jasvir and Vikram were awarded the First Prize for their outstanding artwork, while Ansh Mishra and Amarjeet received Consolation Prizes for their commendable efforts.

The event also drew attention to an earlier successful initiative – a 7-day Indian Sign Language Workshop conducted in December 2024 by the Equal Opportunity Cell for the students of Red Cross School, which significantly helped bridge the communication gap and foster mutual understanding.

Both initiatives reflect the institution’s unwavering commitment to inclusive education, community engagement, empowerment, and the promotion of equal opportunities for all.
