Special lectures on “Workplace Automation with AI” and “AI’s Role in Academic and Research”

Chandigarh, March 18, 2024: The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized special lectures on “Workplace Automation with AI” and “AI’s Role in Academic and Research”. 

Jasbir Singh, JRF, of the department anchored the event and theme of the lectures. Dr. Shiv Kumar, Chairperson, of the department welcomed the resource person and participants. Dr. Sudhir Goyal (System Manager, Panjab University, Chandigarh) was the resource person. 

Dr. Sudhir Goyal highlighted the significance, challenges and opportunities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the workplace. He also pointed out the potential role of AI in academics and research. He also demonstrated some AI tools which can help in research work. He shared his experience using chat GPT for data analysis. Furthermore, he demonstrated Chat GPT 3.5 and performed several tasks using a research paper such as content generation, paraphrasing, data analysis, creating presentations, summarization and elaboration of content. He emphasises on the clear and correct prompts for effective results. Lastly, he concluded the special lecture with the words that understanding and using AI tools is the need of the hour. The lectures were attended by around 70 participants.
